Custom Painted Dummy Board/Door Stop Portrait of your Saluki or other dog breed.
Back in the 18h century it became popular to use “dummy boards”(flat representation of a person, animal or floral bouquet) to cover the black hole left by fireplaces when not in use. Today, these great creations are available again in CUSTOM PORTRAITS OF YOUR SALUKI or other breed from your photo. The image of the animal is hand painted on a flat custom cut 1/4 inch board and will stand alone. These make wonderful doorstops but they also look great to fill in that dark spot in your fireplace when the fireplace is not in use, and they make eye catching conversation pieces on a buffet or fireplace mantel.
Have fun watching your Saluki do a double-take the first time he sees himself portrayed as an art form. This is such a wonderful, tactile way to commemorate or celebrate a beloved Saluki friend.
These are 2-dimensional flats which are custom painted on the front from your photo on 1/4 inch wood cut into the shape of a SITTING dog. They are able to stand alone, and the back is just plain board. The artist says:
Doorstop/dummy boards will range in size depending on the breed, this means small breeds will be close to life size but for the larger breeds the largest doorstop made is 21 1/2” x 13” due to production and restrictions. The doorstops are hand painted in high quality acrylic paint on 1/4” tempered hardboard and will have a protective varnish coat. A wedge which can be screwed from the back to a ball will turn it into a doorstop you can display and put to use.
All custom doorstops will show your Saluki lying down like the sample photo.
